How about with you? Do you feel there is one particular thing that will be of influence or concern during this year?

hahaha that world prediction for 2010 list, on number 3; a member of parliment being caught in a compromising sexual position in a public toilet. not much of a pyschic prediction there, lol.

If we see another growing season this year anything like the past 3 years then we're in for more food price increases. the global food reserves are quite precarious at best and any undue climatic influence is going to push us into a sudden and dramatic situation where we might very well have rationing on certain food stuffs.

the saudies are changing selling their oil from dollars, so we're going to see some change in the US economy, with the amount of monies they've put into the bank bail outs and the military industrial spending then we can expect a further erosion of their economy. further homelessness and poverty in the states, the deepening divide between the very super rich and ordinary working and middle classes, not a good thing for social cohesion, is this going to lead to greater social unrest. i'm wholly surprised a lot more people havn't taken up arms against the bak bail outs, but hay how much can you push a people before they don't take any more, looks like we'll see.

i'm focusing here on the very pragmatic things that concern our civilisation, not anything esoteric. our food production and oil industries are intimatly linked, when we see rises in the price of oil we see a corresponding rise in crop production costs. any peak oil influence is going to impact on the economics of farming. this is particularly relevent when we consider our westen reliance on 3rd world producers, when they start growing crops for their own consumption rather then growing cash crops to supply us then we'll see our shops emptying of a lot of basic foods.

I hope to see 2010 be more of a relief from 2009.
