Meet Other 2012ers
Advertising mail via 2012 connect
This is really just to find out if this is the norm. Over the weekend I received 3 advertising mails promoting different products to my personal email via 2012 connect. A dating site and a 'business opportunity' no less! Looks as if they were sent to all the UK group.
Is this sort of thing allowed? Maybe I need to look at my settings.

Feel free to send me the usernames and a copy of the messages - the purpose of this social network is certainly not for businesses to spam folk

The same spam messages have gone to members of other groups as well. I hope Rob bans this person.

From what I can see I havent been effected by this, although at times past Ive had a ton of spam from Ning, I did post about the security holes in the Ning Network on this board once before, if you have In Private browsing use it otherwise expect plenty of spam when using Nings, they have more security holes than Swiss Cheese. LOL Or you could use a proxy to surf with, Ning also puts a tracking cookie on you everytime you use it, this in itself will mean youre wide open to spam, plus Ning use Google Adwords, anything connected to Google means youll get spam, Look into your online security, youll be amazed at how vulnerable you probably are. phoenician

Thanks, I use Firefox with 'trackmenot' which so far has been pretty good. However I was having problems logging in to one particular site recently so I unticked the setting for automatically clearing of cache, cookies etc on closing the browser and temporarily disabled trackmenot and this is probably the result. So I am back on all that, plus I will probably enable private browsing as suggested.
