Meet Other 2012ers

This could be nothing but its worth a mention. I live in the uk but my mother in-law lives in Missouri. She called my wife today and told her about 2 large explosions from the GM assembly centre. She felt these explosions from her house which is 15 miles away, so pretty big. The interesting thing is this: She has a friend who works at this plant who told her these explosions came from a bunker 150ft below the assembly plant. The workers were told that this bunker was used to store paint and this was the cause of the blasts, which to me sounds ridiculous. Firstly because of the magnitude of the explosions, and secondly because land is so cheap and abundant there that there would be no need to go to the expense of digging a bunker (let alone a 150ft deep bunker).

If all this didn't seem odd, there has been zero reports on the local news of the event, an explosion that could be felt at least 15 miles away.

You can draw your own conclusions from this, if I here anymore I'll post any updates.

I'm from The area , haven't seen anything in the paper , My old man worked at the plant for years. I talked to someone it was on the news this morning. Wentzville isn't that rural , at least not after the housing boom , they built pretty heavy , plopping subdivisions out in the middle of nowhere. it is funny its not in the post . but there alway's a little slower , especially with bad news. peace B.

Thanks, I'll make sure I'll check it out. I dont go till april but it'll be second on my to do list after getting a pack of cheetoes ;). I just couldn't understand why you would need a 150ft bunker to store paint, and that the workers seemed oblivious to it.

Hi Lugh , I was talking to the old Man , and he said ( He worked there ) that it was a fire in the ventilation tunnels from the paint booths. These are giant tunnels that goes to a smoke stack. Oh and I was guessing , , going up the arch or card's game, as the first thing? peace B.

Not a 2012 Disaster: Large Hadron Collider

For all I know it is just spin, but the news this week is that the LHC couldn’t possibly cause a doomsday in 2012 – it will be shut down for repairs. In September 2008, just 9 days after physicists first circulated protons through the 27-kilometer-long subterranean accelerator, the LHC suffered a catastrophic failure when one of [...] Related posts:

Protecting Earth: Governments Finally Getting Serious

The timing could be better, because Dec 2012 is only 2.5 years away, but better late than never! Last month, Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R – CA) introduced the new bill before Congress, H.R. 5587, titled: “To establish a United States Commission on Planetary Defense and for other purposes.” The commission will investigate the role of the United [...] Related posts:

Siberia: A New, Recent Hominin Added to the Mix

For a very long time, homo sapiens were the only human species that were thought to have existed in the last tens of thousands of years. Recently we have witnessed the addition of two species, the Neandertals (latest research says that everyone apart from Africans have some Neandertal DNA), and the Hobbits (who we do [...] Related posts:

Mel Gibson Update

[that Mel Gibson has any special knowledge regarding 2012 is pure speculation on my part, as an example of how a famous person, in the know, might seem to act as 2012 approaches] Well, well – back in February I speculated that perhaps Mel Gibson – the only person who has ever made a movie about [...] Related posts:

NASA Discovers 25,000 New Asteroids

And as an example of how infrequent it is for an asteroid to crash into our planet, not one of the 25,000 is aimed for Earth. It’s a pretty impressive haul for WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer), finding that number since last December, and also discovering 15 new comets. The telescope is up in space, just [...] Related posts:
