Meet Other 2012ers

This one is an obvious addition.
One area that I'm currently researching is Mt Bartle Frere which is roughly 1.6km above see level, it has a good source of water and wildlife.
The catch is it's quite treacherous.
Many tourists get lost there and it rains heaps.
It also leaches.

Anyways here is a list off wikipedia, not all of the links have info so you might have to search around a bit.

Hi all ! I see a few Brisbane members here. Questions questions questions.. I was wondering what your opinions were of the best and worst mountains in Brisbane or Queensland to move to during the hard times? How far inland do you think you need to be to be safe? And how high up in metres do you need to be? A list would be great if anyone has done any research. Any 2012 meeting groups happening in Brisbane? Does anyone know a good video or picture that shows what the countries would look like after the supposed polar shift? Cheers

The Zelta mob suggest that the eastern side of Aussie will be fine if not a lot larger , it is the western side that will sink under the indonesian plate.
Nexus magazine are having their annual conference in June - ish on the sunshine coast, I am not sure if they are broaching the 2012 scenarios.
Jman, nobody knows for sure what is going to happen or when or really if anything, but I say to everyone BE PREPARED , get one of those boxes from crazy clarks , you know the type , made of plastic , with a click on lid and maybe even wheels , you can get better ones from the hardware shops, and then put in a tent , a swag , some rice, matches , a thermo blankie, and of course lots of water and you will find better lists on the internet. Everyone needs to have this type of thing sitting by their front door, for themselves and loved ones. We may not be talking about end of world but it may be flood, fire, cyclone, earthquake etc

I live on the North West of Tasmania and as yet not come across anyone that is organising themselves for the 2012 (althought I should imagine it would not be something to broadcast due to the fact that when it does happen, everyone will descend upon you for assistance). I am fortunate in that we are in a rural area. We are coastline but we are surrounded by mountains so at the first sign of trouble we can head south and into the hinterlands. My biggest issue is money (not having enough of it) and time. We are big campers so we have everything that we need (although this won't protect very well if many of the predictions come true) but we are surrounded by caves that we may be able to find shelter in. I have seen the Zeta maps and it seems that the East Coast of Australia will be relatively safe and it appears that Tasmania will actually rise. This is what I have to put my faith in. Anyway it would be interesting to talk to anyone that may be in Tassie that are of the same mindset as myself. The countdown is on and disasters are happening thick and fast so I doubt if we have a moment to loose.

Not a 2012 Disaster: Large Hadron Collider

For all I know it is just spin, but the news this week is that the LHC couldn’t possibly cause a doomsday in 2012 – it will be shut down for repairs. In September 2008, just 9 days after physicists first circulated protons through the 27-kilometer-long subterranean accelerator, the LHC suffered a catastrophic failure when one of [...] Related posts:

Protecting Earth: Governments Finally Getting Serious

The timing could be better, because Dec 2012 is only 2.5 years away, but better late than never! Last month, Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R – CA) introduced the new bill before Congress, H.R. 5587, titled: “To establish a United States Commission on Planetary Defense and for other purposes.” The commission will investigate the role of the United [...] Related posts:

Siberia: A New, Recent Hominin Added to the Mix

For a very long time, homo sapiens were the only human species that were thought to have existed in the last tens of thousands of years. Recently we have witnessed the addition of two species, the Neandertals (latest research says that everyone apart from Africans have some Neandertal DNA), and the Hobbits (who we do [...] Related posts:

Mel Gibson Update

[that Mel Gibson has any special knowledge regarding 2012 is pure speculation on my part, as an example of how a famous person, in the know, might seem to act as 2012 approaches] Well, well – back in February I speculated that perhaps Mel Gibson – the only person who has ever made a movie about [...] Related posts:

NASA Discovers 25,000 New Asteroids

And as an example of how infrequent it is for an asteroid to crash into our planet, not one of the 25,000 is aimed for Earth. It’s a pretty impressive haul for WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer), finding that number since last December, and also discovering 15 new comets. The telescope is up in space, just [...] Related posts:
