It looks like I am heading that way also. San Diego Ca is not a choice of mine to stay in. Already there is chaos here. Been also having a lot of dreams that suggest moving East is in the future for me. Norcal caveman ... would like to possibly join the caravan. Presently I have a self contained rig with 140 watts of solar power. What make of purifier did you get?

I'm partial to the CO - NM border area of the Rockies , myself.
Perhaps we can find a suitable area to meet there.
Water & volcanic activity could become problems, but the instability of the mountains is minor compared to the political instability we could be facing ...
Good luck retrofitting your bus !

Ive ben having strange dreams and strong erges to move to the rockies. something about the border of col and nm keeps jumping out at me? anyhow ive made my decission and im shooting for x-mas 2010 as the soonest possible departure. i just bought a 40' deisel rv and will spend the next 18mo outfitting it w/water purifiers, dried foods for years, seeds, books, the list is to long. im even trying to score a magnetic generator! anyhow i will try to form a caravan of self contained, likeminded familys(or individuells) and put my feelers out for contacts in that regon. i believe theres strength in numbers, as long as everybody brings something to the table. what ever happens we indend to have alot of fun as we prepare for everything.appreceiate all info. thanx

I am very concerned about what might happen. I know some of my friends would laugh at this theory so trying to prepare is hard. My wife and I live in an apartment with two dogs so its is impossible to fortify a shelter. ANY HELP? I have tried to remember and log abandoned tunnels and caves when I go hiking. I have a vehicle that I have been working on making useful for disatser but if it gets destroyed by the hellish events that might happen we my little family is toast. Can we form a group? I have skills that are useful....survival skills. I'll be taking a HAM class soon, I'll also be improving my navigation skills. God Bless us ALL.

In my humble opinion, once anarchy begins, it will be at least three to four months before any resemblance of organized law begins to take form. From there it could still be several months before even the slightest infrastructure is solidified. During this period of extreme unrest, if you don't belong to a small group of like minded individuals, capable of defending your position, your chances of survival go down tremendously. Single entities, with food, will be easy targets for the roaming bands. The other question one needs to ask of one's self is, how far am I willing to go to protect my family and friends? Am I willing to do whatever it takes or would it be easier to not try at all and just let it happen?

The one good thing on our side, on American soil, is the great numbers of well trained but aging, former soldiers. They were used to working as a unit and can operate under pressure. I believe that this alone will be enough to force the country into submission as loyalty to our family and friends along with a patriotic sense of duty prevail during these intensely troubled times.

Of course, with the Great Awakening which is going on as we speak, none of this could happen. Never before, in the history of mankind, have we seen such a spiritual awakening on a world-wide level. If it continues to the critical point, our collective focus could be enough to keep things together.

Either way, worrying about it won't make it happen or keep it from happening. All we can do is prepare just in case it goes. If it doesn't, great! If it does, we might be prepared enough to survive a while longer till things get better.

The economic & political problems will be "interesting" to get through this year.

Surviving the first few months of climate change is a priority, in my opinion.
Most people will be totally unprepared for the lack of infrastructure & have no idea how to survive on their own. This will cause panic & crime, to say the least.

For the most part, I concur with your opinions, Goz.

re: Del on prisoners:
I am more concerned with the average citizen , who will panic & is far more likely than the prisoners to be a dangerous concern. Prisoners actually have some survival skills which could be useful, simply from being in prison. This is not to say that they should be trusted; I just believe that their threat level will be somewhat lower than the "average" unprepared citizens with children (who will panic & be unpredictable). Criminals with families will try to find them before they completely panic , & a larger proportion will harm each other getting out of the prisons themselves. They will fight over the articles stored at the prisons first.
The average citizen will attack their neighbors first , to take what they might have stored away.

Just my opinions.

Good observations.
I think at this point it’s a going to play by ear thing. Signs point to this year being a great year of change. The next few months should be pretty dramatic. May some time should be interesting. For me personally a picture is emerging from the gloom of information overload. Here is what I suspect.

Electromagnetic energy caused by the earth passing through the plain of the galaxy causes earth to wobble or shift on its magnetic axis this in turns cause a shift in the earths surface or a slippage. This causes the global coastal event which will kill a huge part of humanity outright. The modern support structure is crippled or destroyed with pockets managing to pull through. Then the massive fight for survival begins. No telling how long that will go on. Being here on the American continent we will be pretty isolated from much of the rest of the world and will be busy putting a new civilization back together.

Caves and underground shelters will only be useful for the month or two of high winds and massive storms. After that they will be problematical.

However the first thing is to get through the next few months and the economic and political problems that are about to occur.

Not a 2012 Disaster: Large Hadron Collider

For all I know it is just spin, but the news this week is that the LHC couldn’t possibly cause a doomsday in 2012 – it will be shut down for repairs. In September 2008, just 9 days after physicists first circulated protons through the 27-kilometer-long subterranean accelerator, the LHC suffered a catastrophic failure when one of [...] Related posts:

Protecting Earth: Governments Finally Getting Serious

Siberia: A New, Recent Hominin Added to the Mix

For a very long time, homo sapiens were the only human species that were thought to have existed in the last tens of thousands of years. Mel Gibson Update

[that Mel Gibson has any special knowledge regarding 2012 is pure speculation on my part, as an example of how a famous person, in the know, might seem to act as 2012 approaches] Well, well – back in February I speculated that perhaps Mel Gibson – the only person who has ever made a movie about [...] Related posts:

NASA Discovers 25,000 New Asteroids

And as an example of how infrequent it is for an asteroid to crash into our planet, not one of the 25,000 is aimed for Earth. It’s a pretty impressive haul for WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer), finding that number since last December, and also discovering 15 new comets.
