Hi Mark, nice to hear there's another local who's up to speed in sleepy little Adelaide town. Man this weekend has been a sticky one! I found myself one minute sharing sparkling dialogue with an elderly couple who have travelled the the world and are super up to date with the happenings of now...the next thing I know I'm in the middle of a crowd of people who are in a crazed frenzy of fear and mayhem, more like I was watching a scene from the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas crossed with One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest!! This happened a number of times over the weekend with different groups of people I found myself amongst... It is unfortunately apparent to me that Adelaide is in need of a massive WAKE UP call, It's more and more often I feel like I'm the only person in this awake state and it's kinda like I'm watching a play or movie rather than being in it like the rest. Is this something you have experienced? Cos sometimes I just want to shake this little dormant town and scream WAKE UP!! After this weekend's psychotic behaviours I wonder whether it's too late for a lot of the folks here, I mean they better get there skates on cos this train I'm on is really starting to gather speed and soon it'll be out of reach. I see in my mind's eye just now writing that last sentence, a bewildered group of people wandering aimlessly, not sure of much, but very confused. I don't know how shake the sleepy one's awake yet but I'm working on it, I hope and ask the universe to assist in this task, ha funny, just then I hear a sarcastic snigger, saying to me this town is a tricky one to get moving, to change, or pick up the learning pace. Not impossible though, there's a way through the sticky and foggy atmosphere of Adelaide's collective consciousness barrier, I've seen this place on a clear day and amazingly for a brief moment, there's hope, but before long that fog come right back in. It's been a weird and wonderous weekend, full of obscurity, extremes in behaviours and slippery deceptive undertones from those consumed by fear, wow! I need a good sleep!!

• Safe places
(where might be good places to be if you don't want to stay in London or New York City)

Much has been written about so called 'safe places' (or radiant zones, as Michael St.Clair prefers to call them). We intend to post a great deal more here in due course.

To begin, we would like to offer the suggestions of two people we know. One is the Project Camelot insider source Henry Deacon (a pseudonym) who has studied this topic for years, and who has helped prepare other components of the information on this page and elsewhere on this site. The other is Miriam Delicado, whom we know and are planning to interview for Project Camelot in the near future.

Henry drew two maps for us. He suggested that these were theoretically optimum areas in which to ride out any planetary difficulties, his first choice being South America. Henry states that these two areas are not the only options, but are his personal preference for quite a long list of reasons.

In practical terms, of course, most people would need to consider other alternatives. There are growing US expat communities in Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador. George Green plans to relocate to Ecuador, and we have just recorded a new audio conversation with him, available here. See our Communities page for more details in due course.

Miriam's story is entirely different. She was contacted while very young by human-appearing extraterrestrials who gave her some important information about what Miriam calls the Safelands. These are areas in which these extraterrestrials would guarantee to provide safety should there be a future global catastrophe - which Miriam was told was not certain.

Miriam was specifically told about the Four Corners area of the US, but was given to understand that there were other areas all over the world - though limited in number. To identify them, Miriam was told, one should consider the End Times myths and legends of local indigenous peoples, which would provide strong clues.

Click here for a fascinating 8 minute audio clip of Miriam talking about the message she was given. [Right-click, or Mac users option-click, for download.] As with every other topic on this site, we will posting more information regularly.

• Amateur radio
(how to communicate worldwide - and even send video and text if the internet goes down)

The net is vulnerable: to being monitored, or to being wholly or partially shut down. Your e-mail may be one of the first communication systems to go. Many of us are more dependent than we may realize on the net's continued operation to keep in touch with people who live even a short distance away. The same applies to the worldwide cellphone network and even to telephone landlines. And electronic banking systems and the interfaces with ATMs are very fragile.

Many readers will be aware that the one of the first things that happened in 9/11 was that the cellphone system became jammed and people in the New York area were unable to make calls. The same is true in the event of any major power outage, caused by any reason. An EMP (electromagnetic pulse) - whether deliberately man-made or an effect of rogue solar activity - can in theory also knock out electronics over a substantial area, in which case the grid could be widely affected.

Insider sources such as Project Camelot's Henry Deacon have told us repeatedly and urgently over the last two years that it makes sense to have a back-up system in place. That system is amateur radio.

With amateur radio, one can replace the essential components of the internet and phone network. One can not only communicate by voice - most people's concept of amateur radio - but also send text messages, text files and video, just as one can over the internet. With the right equipment and knowledge, it can be a functionally effective substitute. Radio sets can be powered by battery and one can operate independently and stay in communication with others around the world.

It requires some training and familiarity, and (at present, in most countries) a license. Equipment can be purchased second hand for a few hundred US dollars. It's very important to know what to buy and how to set up and operate these systems. If you do not have a licence, many of the advanced systems would not be accessible even in emergency situations. Buying equipment alone won't provide any communications for you.

On this page we'll provide pointers towards resources and information to help readers get started if they wish to. The time to do this, of course, is before any major communication problems occur.

Here's one introductory video to start with, and click here and here for two more. A lot more information will follow later.

• Electromagnetic shielding
(how to safeguard electronic components from EMPs, whether man-made or natural)

EMPs - electromagnetic pulses - can burn out chips and circuits in everyday appliances such as computers, cellphones, your toaster and your car.

Almost all military hardware has chips and circuits which are 'hardened' - i.e. protected from these effects, as they can be created deliberately by an enemy. In a 'first-strike' attack the detonation of a high-altitude nuclear device to create a nationwide EMP might be an enemy's very first strategic action. No-one would be killed directly by the blast, but everything dependent on non-hardened electronic circuitry would simply stop working immediately: a simple way to bring the civilians of a first-world country to their knees within hours. All military commanders are fully aware of this.

Some Russian warplanes, tanks and communication systems even use 'old-fashioned' valve (vacuum tube) circuitry, which at first puzzled western analysts until it was remembered that these are not vulnerable at all to EMP effects. Note that civilian aircraft are not shielded in any way. Some military aircraft don’t use electronic control systems at all, but instead resort to hydraulic micro-circuits and mechanical systems.

These effects can also be caused by extreme solar activity. A solar superstorm such as the event of 1859 (click here for details) was spectacular but caused no ill-effects in that pre-electronic era; but the equivalent today might cause immense and widespread damage. Fortunately, with a natural event like that, there would likely be some warning. The charged particles from the sun (a CME or Corona Mass Ejection) do not travel at the speed of light and there would be a visual warning of between 12-36 hours, giving time to prepare.

Fortunately, the preparation is simple. Wrap all portable electronics in insulating plastic or cloth, then wrap them again in metal foil and place them in a metal box itself in a shielded area such as a basement. Ideally, the metal shielding should be grounded or buried in the ground for maximum protection of your most sensitive data storage or electronic devices. Even the simple first step - wrapping in foil - may be enough in lower level EMP areas.

It may not be quite so simple to shield one's car, but some protection is possible with a little ingenuity. The safest strategy is to have an older truck or car with a diesel engine and which does not have an electronic engine management system or electronic controls. Depending on the make and model, that would be probably be a vehicle older than around 1985. It's quite easy to check and see, and any good auto mechanic can advise. It's not a joke to suggest that a bicycle in good condition may be not be a bad idea. We will provide more details later.

• Health and well-being
(staying in good shape off the grid)

Much is being written about Avian ('Bird') Flu, and, in our opinion, with some good reason. The information is unpalatable but important to understand. Whether an outbreak is natural or part of a diabolical plan (which is absolutely not impossible), it makes sense to be aware and prepared.

We're not health professionals, and so the following does not constitute medical advice. So please understand that what we write here must be read in the context of that caveat.

Three places to start:

• Dr Rima Laibow's excellent site, Global Health Freedom. [Sign up to her e-mail list for updates.]
• Dr Bill Deagle's site, Nutrimedical.com.
• This excellent audio interview: Art Bell, talking in January 2008 with Dr Gary Ridenour. [Right-click, or Mac users option-click, for download]

A very simplified summary of the information offered here is the following:

• Compulsory vaccinations may be a control mechanism.
• If you're convinced the outbreak is real, then quarantine yourself. Stay at home and do not go outside or make contact with others for about ten days - by which time the outbreak will have burned itself out and 'passed through'. Ensure that you have enough supplies, of all kinds (including bottled water) for you and your family to stay at home for this period.
• Natural remedies may include MMS, colloidal silver, and vitamin D3.

• The safeguarding of assets
(gold and silver, and what to do with it)

This is written on 18 August 2008, and the gold and silver markets have over the last week taken a giant slide. There are many internet commentaries on this (see Kitco and Market Oracle, for example), and there is overwhelming evidence that the gold and silver markets are being artificially manipulated. But all analysts - and insiders - agree that buying metals is the best way to safeguard one's assets unless one is a very skilled market professional, informed and able to take other more sophisticated steps.

The thing to remember is that metals which are digitally owned (i.e. not in your possession, but represented in an electronic account) are not actually 'yours'. Digital assets can disappear for any number of reasons, from an EMP (see above) to a sudden bank failure. In a worst-case scenario of infrastructure melt-down, it makes sense to have the metal in your physical possession.

That can be in a variety of forms. What exactly one does depends on one's own situation: factors to consider are how mobile one needs to be, and how secure one's circumstances are. Many commentators recommend buying gold and silver coins. Specialized collectable coins (numismatics) can retain more value than regular gold and silver coins. Larger denominations - extending up to gold and silver bars - are better value, but are less exchangeable. Metal bars may be a good idea to hold if one can keep them securely and have the resources to ride out a limited difficult time.

To barter, one must think slightly differently. Here one needs to hold smaller 'denominations'. One cannot use a 1 kg gold bar to buy a loaf of bread or a tank of gas. Even 1 oz gold coins, easy to keep in one's pocket, are likely to be worth $1000 or more. Junk silver (usually pre-1964/65 US coins with a high physical silver content) is excellent for bartering and may - conceivably - become a kind of alternative off-the-grid 'currency'. One can buy $1000 bags of junk silver and, if one has the resources, this would seem to be a prudent step. A new development is also available: chip gold, non-coin 'mini-bars' in small weights as low as 1g.

Many people will not have the resources to buy large amounts of physical metals. In the event of a bad situation, bartering with other items may be one way to make things work. Sensible (and currently inexpensive!) items to consider stocking up with might be batteries (of all kinds), matches or lighters, food items in small cans, vitamins and simple first aid supplies, cigarettes, coffee and candy (other people will want them, even if you don't) fish hooks and line, and a plethora of small practical items such as LED flashlights, boxes, bags and bottles, filters, tools, wire, glue, nails, simple radios, paperback books, pens, paper, and almost any cheap and genuinely practical items that can be bought from a dime store.

[For further ideas, read this interesting list: 100 Essential Items. We also suggest that the SSRSI [Survival & Self Reliance Studies Institute] site is well worth visiting, and in particular yielded this exchange of ideas which extends the above summary in fascinating directions.]

• Survival awareness
(staying alive in non-optimum situations)

We will post more about this later. In the meantime, click here to download a non-copyrighted 270-page survival manual [2.7 Mb] which is packed with a vast amount of detailed and valuable information.

• Free energy
(how to build your own free energy devices)

Detailed discussion of this area is beyond the scope of this site. But we highly recommend Patrick J. Kelly's outstanding 1750-page compilation of full descriptions of every free energy device he was able to research, including instructions, analysis, and hundreds of diagrams and blueprints. My parents had a shack in Andamooka and lived off the grid completely...they loved the life they were living. I was always facinated with the families that were living underground. It was much cooler underground than trying to live above in temperatures of 40+ THIS IS INTERESTING TO ME Mr. Mark Wise please update me with regards to places you can find (is this underground place in EAST Ausralia?) It doesn't really matter if you're living sustainably and off the grid like your parents you said, the thing is - IS THAT PLACE A SAFE PLACE when pole shift happens. That's the whole question, or else we will just get on with our plans as usual you know.

Dec 21 2011 is -366 Day

Like a NASA rocket launch, we can create a 2012 countdown. While several 2012 countdowns have been running for some time, an "official" countdown would have more gravity. I don't need to explain the power of "this time next year" and how it can translate globally. So rather than just suggesting, I am stating: Dec 21 2011 will be known as -366 day. The reference to the leap year could lessen the

Asteroids: We Aren't Prepared

NASA is looking, and does find asteroids. Unfortunately their efforts are far from comprehensive, and our planet is woefully under-prepared relative to our technical capabilities. A few months back New Scientist published what will hopefully be a wake-up call to politicians globally:The asteroid is on a collision course with Earth. It is the size of a skyscraper and it's big enough to raze a city

2012 Forum - Becoming Very International

With almost 6000 members and over 200,000 posts, 2012 forum has started to attract folk from more and more diverse parts of the planet. Here's a quick peek at how truly global the 2012 meme has become:Russian survivalist shows off his amphibious armored vehicle, purchased for "1500 $ + 20 bottles of vodka + 1 pig"A Scottish lass dreamed that she was at a "dock on top of a mountain unloading a

What if nothing happens in 2012?

This is a common question, and one that especially concerns 2012 prophets, 2012 fearmongers, and 2012 spiritual evolutionists - for they could all have egg on their face.First of all, there's a good chance something will happen, because most years somewhere in the world there is a major story. 2012 will still have legs, because proponents of the meme will say things like:that earthquake / volcano

WR 104 - Potential Space Nasty

I really like "bad astronomy" articles, but even more so when they admit they are scared. In this instance it is a binary star known as Wr 104. At a distance of 5000-8000 light years a supernova is not expected to harm us. But a Gamma Ray Burst might, especially if it is aimed straight at us!GRBs are a special type of supernova. When a very massive star explodes, the inner core collapses, forming
